Daughter Of Smoke And Bone- Laini Taylor

Daughter Of Smoke And Bone- Laini Taylor
This book is told in the third person. The book is a very interesting combination of greek mythology, stories told around the camp fire and amazing imagination.
"She had been innocent once a little girl playing with feathers on the floor of a devils lair she wasn't innocent now....." This quote which is on the book jacket of my book is the reason I bought, it gives a sense of mystery to the book. Throughout most of the book your brain is full of questions, which I personally felt like Laini Taylor did a great job of answering by the end of the book.
Essentially around the world black handprints start appearing on doorways, but it's not just paint or ink the print is scorched into the wood, metal etc. People start saying there seeing unworldly beautiful women and men doing it, the weirdest of all they have wings......
Karou is not the average human girl, if she even is human. She grew up in a chimera's shop and was cared too by devil's. She fills sketchbooks of creatures that are real. Her adoptive father ( if you czan even say that) collects teeth and in return will give you wishes. Small wishes, medium wishes and big wishes. Karou has wished many times before like for her hair to grow out of her head bright blue. But Karou has never known who she really is, and she's about too find out.
This book I give 3.5 stars out of 5. The reason is because I felt like the book was very average until the last hundred pages or so. Then it really started to get good, but I wish it hadn't taken that long to become faster paced and interesting. The book has such an interesting and unique plot and storyline but I felt like it was slow paced. When reading you have a lot of questions with this book. Laini Taylor did an amazing job writing out the answers and what not but you get the answers all at once so your brain is still putting together the pieces when your handed more. Overall this book was good it did have a unique idea and plot, it just didn't do it for me. But I feel like the 2nd book would be a a lot better so I'll definitely try to read that to see if the story picks up.
