The Prince/ The Guard -Kiera Cass

The Prince

Before thirty-five girls were chosen to compete in the Selection...

Before Aspen broke America's heart...

There was another girl in Prince Maxon's life...
This is a novella that takes place during The Selection. I adore The Selection and I adored this glimpse into Maxon's life because in The Selection all you see is America's point of view, but with this novella you can see Maxon's point of view which I found really interesting, because you got to see what was going on inside his head. I wish it had been longer because there were some parts of the selection that I thought would have been fun to see in Maxon's point of view. But I still am giving this novella a 5 out of 5.

The Guard
Before America Singer met Prince Maxon . . .
Before she entered the Selection . . .
She was in love with a boy named Aspen Leger.

I honestly was team Maxon the whole way in the first two books because I felt like Aspen didn't realize how much Maxon does care for her, but seeing Aspens point of view and what he did for Woodworks family made me like him, but not as much as Maxon because I still felt like Maxon is better for her. But any who I also started to dislike Aspen more because he was putting the girl he claims to love in danger, like who does that Aspen who fricking does that.  But I did highly enjoy this book so i'm giving it a 4 out of 5.

Scarlet-Marrisa Meyer

PLEASE DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVE NOT READ CINDER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Scarlet is the second book in the Lunar Chronicles which is a series that has been getting a lot of hype recently. I originally read Cinder the year it came out and loved it but I didn't realize there was a second, third and soon to be 4th. So I quickly reread Cinder and dove head first into Scarlet.

Cinder, the cyborg mechanic, returns in the second thrilling installment of the bestselling Lunar Chronicles. She's trying to break out of prison--even though if she succeeds, she'll be the Commonwealth's most wanted fugitive. Halfway around the world, Scarlet Benoit's grandmother is missing. It turns out there are many things Scarlet doesn't know about her grandmother or the grave danger she has lived in her whole life. When Scarlet encounters Wolf, a street fighter who may have information as to her grandmother's whereabouts, she is loath to trust this stranger, but is inexplicably drawn to him, and he to her. As Scarlet and Wolf unravel one mystery, they encounter another when they meet Cinder. Now, all of them must stay one step ahead of the vicious Lunar Queen Levana, who will do anything for the handsome Prince Kai to become her husband, her king, her prisoner.

I originally thought that Scarlet was all about Little red riding hood, but I was wrong the book is told from Scarlet's point of view and Cinder's Point of View which I loved how the main characters from the 1st book were brought back. But I loved the new characters, it was really cool knowing a lot about some characters then having random ones thrown in who you get to know, Captain Thorne, Wolf, the grandmother. I felt like this sequel was perfect it could not have been better, you got so many answers but where left with a lot too.
Cinder WOW there was so much character development, but I felt like she was running from the problem, and if she had manned up she could have prevented a terrible fate for commonwealth.
Scarlet, one thing I loved about Scarlet was how devoted she was to her grandmother, she would move mountains for that old lady which made her so lovable. Personally I never met my grandmothers so I don't understand that bond, but I know it's a strong one.
Wolf I could not decide if he was a good guy or a bad guy I kept going back and forth because he does some pretty bad shit but some sweet shit too.
This book had so many unexcepted twists that I was bouncing in my seat, desperate to know what would become of my beloved characters. So with that being said I am giving Scarlet 4. out of 5

Days Of Blood And Starlight-Laini Taylor

This review may contain spoilers from the first book Daughter Of Smoke And Bone, which I also have a review on. I personally wasn't a super big fan of Daughter Of Smoke And Bone but I had to give the second book a try because I felt like I owed it to the series.

Once upon a time, an angel and a devil fell in love and dared to imagine a world free of bloodshed and war.

This is not that world.

Art student and monster's apprentice Karou finally has the answers she has always sought. She knows who she is—and what she is. But with this knowledge comes another truth she would give anything to undo: She loved the enemy and he betrayed her, and a world suffered for it. In this stunning sequel to the highly acclaimed Daughter of Smoke & Bone, Karou must decide how far she'll go to avenge her people. Filled with heartbreak and beauty, secrets and impossible choices, Days of Blood & Starlight finds Karou and Akiva on opposing sides as an age-old war stirs back to life. While Karou and her allies build a monstrous army in a land of dust and starlight, Akiva wages a different sort of battle: a battle for redemption. For hope. But can any hope be salvaged from the ashes of their broken dream?

The description of the book is from goodreads as always.
The main character Karou annoyed me at times because she knew what was happening was wrong and it took her so long to change it or even speak up. One thing that made me mad was she NEVER stood up for herself, until the end. I know everyone is talking about what a bad ass character she is, but in reality she isn't she stood by creating an army and let them kill. Sure she stood up near the end but how many lives had she cost?
Then there is Akiva who sadly most chapters he was in I didn't enjoy, he spent a lot of time being down or sad about Karou. WELL BUDDY YOU KILLED HER FAMILY. But on the other hand I enjoyed some of his chapters because well you were introduced to his siblings Hazael and Liraz and saw more of them then you did in the first book.
Zuzana well I loved the chapters she was in, Zuzana just added a little bit a spice to each chapter which made some of the chapters a lot more durable.
ZIRI was the only thing that kept me in there, during the first 300 pages or so I hated the book, I disliked a lot, I had to force myself to read through it but ZIRI he was hands down the best character in the book for me. I don't know if it was his strong connection to Karou or if it was that I just instantly liked him, he never seemed happy about the killing he had done which made me happy. He added so much to the book in his quirky personality I guess you could say.
I didn't love this book, I didn't really like it all to much, the beginning was hard to get into and I just had troubles wanting to read this book, I had to force myself to keep reading. But I LOVED the last part so I'm very conflicted on what to give this book as a rating. But I have decided on a 4 out of 5. Because I did love the ending.

White Hot Kiss-Jennifer L Armentrout

If you have been reading my blog for a while then you will know I'm a die hard Jennifer L Armentrout fan, so essentially I had to read her latest book! This is part of the new series The Dark Elements. One thing Jennifer never fails to do is create a swoon worthy guy in every book, if only Jennifer was in charge of creating the boys of the world. This book is a romance book, but an odd one because it involves Wardens (People who kill demons, and are also gargoyles) and Demons ( Who are demons) I found the main character very interesting Layla is a mixture of warden and demon which is pretty bad ass.
One kiss could be the last.

Seventeen-year-old Layla just wants to be normal. But with a kiss that kills anything with a soul, she's anything but normal. Half demon, half gargoyle, Layla has abilities no one else possesses.

Raised among the Wardens—a race of gargoyles tasked with hunting demons and keeping humanity safe—Layla tries to fit in, but that means hiding her own dark side from those she loves the most. Especially Zayne, the swoon-worthy, incredibly gorgeous and completely off-limits Warden she's crushed on since forever.

Then she meets Roth—a tattooed, sinfully hot demon who claims to know all her secrets. Layla knows she should stay away, but she's not sure she wants to—especially when that whole no-kissing thing isn't an issue, considering Roth has no soul.

But when Layla discovers she's the reason for the violent demon uprising, trusting Roth could not only ruin her chances with Zayne…it could brand her a traitor to her family. Worse yet, it could become a one-way ticket to the end of the world.

I LOVED  this book and I'm so happy the next book comes out this year!!!! I beg you all to go read this. One thing I loved about this book is how its something that hasn't been done, the whole gargoyle romance thing, correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure it hasn't been done.
“You need something," he said, and when I stared at him, he added, "Your face."
"My face?"
"It's in need of my kisses.”

ROTH IS MY SAVIOUR Jennifer creates such amazing guys that I fall in love with everytime, Roth, Daemon, Cam and Kyler she is the perfect boy maker. I loved Roth's character it was bad ass cause he's a demon, but he also was really sweet in bad ass boy ways. He showed Layla something that she wouldn't have seen otherwise and it opened her eyes so much. But the twist at the end........... killed me.

But Roth is gonna be alright because the Boss will help him, and all will be swell, and Zayne needs to get over Layla because she can't kiss him and well that is a downer right there.
The world is really fantastic because it's mostly modern day, except for the demons and gargoyles, in the world people know about the gargoyles and have for a while.
I loved this paranormal romance novel and I really want to read the novella and the 2nd book. I would highly recommend you read this book and all of Jennifer L Armentrouts novels. She is a truly talented writing and if you don't read her you are missing out. I give White Hot Kiss a 5 out of 5.

Pushing The Limits- Katie Mcgarry

let's start this review of by saying, this is not a happy, go lucky love story where the guy and the girl are so perfect and they cling to each other desperately never letting go. In fact only the love story part of that is true. This has got to be one of the darkest romance stories I have read in a while. The two main characters Echo and Noah deal with some pretty dark stuff, and both suffer from their past

No one knows what happened the night Echo Emerson went from popular girl with jock boyfriend to gossiped-about outsider with "freaky" scars on her arms. Even Echo can't remember the whole truth of that horrible night. All she knows is that she wants everything to go back to normal. But when Noah Hutchins, the smoking-hot, girl-using loner in the black leather jacket, explodes into her life with his tough attitude and surprising understanding, Echo's world shifts in ways she could never have imagined. They should have nothing in common. And with the secrets they both keep, being together is pretty much impossible.Yet the crazy attraction between them refuses to go away. And Echo has to ask herself just how far they can push the limits and what she'll risk for the one guy who might teach her how to love again.

I love romances that aren't about perfect people, and this book is about 2 people who are seriously messed up. I fell in love with Noah, the way he wasn't afraid of her scars, the way he stood up for her, he's every girls dream guy. But what a sad story what happened to both of them was horrid. I felt like echo's issue was a little more important (sorry Noah I still love you) I mean SPOILER her mom did try to kill her, and her brother died, but I feel like if she had looked at her dad and Ashley more she might understand. Her dad was terrible for not telling her, but you also knew he loved her. Noah, noah noah, his brothers were taken away from him after his parents died and that is terrible, and the godamn system didn't help him it destroyed him. I did quite like this book, so i'm giving it a 4.5 out of 5.

Burning- Elana K Arnold

This book I read on my kobo on a very long drive, where all you could see was the sky and barren snow covered land. Burning offers a glimpse into the gypsy life, which I enjoyed because I think we all have ideas about gypsies after watching gypsy sisters on tlc. But in all honesty this was not my book, this wasn't on I couldn't put down, I didn't enjoy this very much but it wasn't the worst book I ever read that is still James and the giant peach. This description is from goodreads.

Ben: Having just graduated from high school, Ben is set to leave Gypsum, Nevada. It's good timing since the gypsum mine that is the lifeblood of the area is closing, shutting the whole town down with it. Ben is lucky: he's headed to San Diego, where he's got a track scholarship at the University of California. But his best friends, Pete and Hog Boy, don't have college to look forward to, so to make them happy, Ben goes with them to check out the hot chick parked on the side of Highway 447.

Lala: She and her Gypsy family earn money by telling fortunes. Some customers choose Tarot cards; others have their palms read. The thousands of people attending the nearby Burning Man festival spend lots of cash--especially as Lala gives uncanny readings. But lately Lala's been questioning whether there might be more to life than her upcoming arranged marriage. And the day she reads Ben's cards is the day that everything changes for her. . . and for him

I don't have much to say about this book, first off I had no clue whole towns could be shutdown so I learned something well reading this. But Lala pissed me off at the end like WTF you used Ben so much, if you didn't like the gyspy world then you could have left you didn't need to pull him in like that. My favorite character was probably James or Pete. That's all I can say because this book was a serious left down. I give it 2.5 stars out of 5

In Honor- Jessi Kirby

In Honor- Jessi Kirby
This book hit me hard right in the heart it was like someone reached into my chest and ripped it out. I bawled and bawled well reading this book. That's saying a lot considering I didn't cry in a fault in our stars. I found this book to be full of sadness and happiness. If that makes sense.

Honor and her brother Finn were close they had been since they were little and their parents died. Finn was her best friend. In Honor's last year of high school Finn turned down a free ride to play football at university and instead decided to enlist. Three days after learning about her brothers death, a letter from him comes in. He wrote it before he died, honor thinks the request in the letter is a dying wish so she sets off to fulfill it. But she gets joined by Rusty Finn's high school best buddy. Honor doesn't want Rusty there, she hasn't forgave him for turning his back on them when Finn decided to enlist. But on this road trip secrets are spilled and Honor learns the true meaning of sacrifice and love.
I bawled like I said above because Honor has had such a shitty life, her parents died, her brother dies. And that's the part that got me, her brother dying because as much as I dislike my brothers I love them both to death and I can't even begin to imagine what life would be like if my brothers died. So yes I cried, the first book I've cried in for a very long time. The story really isn't an average road trip story, it's so much more the twists that you learn about Finn I didn't see coming. I loved Finn's character even though he was dead in this book, an 18, 19, 20 ish year old boy knowing that much about love and sacrifice is unbelievably but so beautiful. Rusty was also an interesting character kinda a jack ass because he was a light fuse and couldn't keep his mouth shut, but Honor did need to hear the stuff he told her. Honor well she, made the book. With Honor you saw how hard it was for her, you got lost inside her head, and because of her you got lost inside the story. I'm giving this book a 4.5 out of 5.

Anna And The French Kiss- Stephanie Perkins

I've been reading a lot of Dystopian  and fantasy books, so in honor of Spring Break I decided to read a contemporary book! I have heard so many amazing things about this book from friends, book tube and other blogs.

Anna is from Atlanta she loves her life, her best friend Bridgette is there and her crush Toph. Toph is starting to like her back when her fathers decides to send her t a boarding school in Paris for her senior year. Anna doesn't speak French but she meets some pretty amazing people Merdith, Josh, Rashmi and St.Clair. Her and St.Clair become best friends but he's taken and she might be too.

I loved this book even though it was a tad cheesy. I adored how it took place in Paris and how you actually learned some history about some major places in Paris. I found the romance so adorable is that an odd way to describe it, it did get a little intense. I honestly loved how she went to a pretty odd messed up private school, like what private school has girls and guys dorming in the same building? One thing I found really relieving is that the romance isn't like "Hey your hot, wanna sleep together" it was more realistic how they started off as friends,, the problems they had were very typical and relatable except for the twist with St.Clair. I will admit some of the names were hard to say, but when I was reading this book it almost felt like I was watching a movie and t.v show that's how easy it was to visualize which I found immensely helpful in enjoying the story more. I think Stephanie did an amazing job and I am definitely going to try to get my hands on some of her other books. I would give this book a 4.5 out of 5

Unravel Me-Tahereh Mafi

Wow I seriously LOVE this series so far. I'm obsessed with the characters and I'm officially team Aaron and maybe team Kenji. But I'm not so into Adam anymore. I love Tahereh's writing style it's so beautiful and the idea for this book is so original and unique.

Juliette escaped from The Reestablishment and now she's at Omega Point and she's free. But Juliette will never ever be free of her lethal touch and Warner who wants her more than anything. Juliette is faced to make a difficult choice, between her heart and Adam's life.

This book was so lovely and I liked it more than the 1st book. In Unravel Me you got to see a side of Warner that you didn't see in the 1st book and now I'm a tad bit smitten with Warner. I don't care if he's murderer or whatever, he can be fixed because he slowly gets fixed a little every time he's with Juliette and I want Warner and Juliette to become a thing, because there so cute together. And I typical fall for the bad boys so <3. I would so highly recommend you read this book. I give it 5 out of 5 stars.

Throne Of Glass- Sarah J. Maas

I loved this book so much, I found myself immersed in this other world that I loved. The main character Celaena was so strong and determined, she was also an assassin but she was such an amazing main character who I never found annoying. I also loved how this book was written and I never saw the twists coming that did happen. It wasn't predictable at all which is why I loved it.

So in this world magic has been banned. and Celaena an assassin is called to the castle to compete in a competition to become the kings champion, who is basically the person who will kill people for the king. There's 23 people competing but she has a lot to lose. She survived in a death camp and her name is only said in harsh whispers but if she loses she will be sent back to the death camp. The crown prince will provoke her, the captain of the guard will protect her and she will befriend an princess. But something evils is dwelling in the castle killing the competitors. Celaena must stop fighting for freedom and start fighting for survival.

I enjoyed this book so much, and I loved how the main character Celaena didn't give up everything for the guys, she was there to fight for freedom and that was it. I was really happy my version of the book had a how to pronounce section because some of the words were very difficult to pronounce. I must say I love the romance in this series that happened in this book. It wasn't instant, it was slow and steady how it would be in real life, but I'm on side Chaol he's a little ruff and tuff where as Dorian is a little more tame or book sweet. I all around loved this book so much I have to give it 5 out of 5 anything less would be a lie.

Eve And Adam-Michel Grat and Katherin Applgate

Eve And Adam
This book is told in 3 points of view Evenings, Solo's and Adams which you don't read till the second have.
Evening was thinking about an apple when the vehicle hit her, She wakes up in a hospital room with her mom arguing with the doctor that she needs to be moved to HER research facility, evening finds out her leg had fallen off, the doctor had been able to put it back on but her chance of it fully healing was slim. Evening's mother gives her a task 'create the perfect boy'.
Solo didn't know if Terra Spikers daughter would be anything like her, and she wasn't. Solo lived the last 6 years of his life in The Spiker Facility why? because Terra had been his legal guardian every since his parents died 6 years ago. He's ready to out Terra but Evening gets in his way.
Adam doesn't have any memories he's exactly like Evening made him, he's the perfect guy just not perfect for Evening.
I really did enjoy this book I loved how it was such a unique story line, something I've never read about. But the romance part was a little cheesy, girl gets perfect guy but doesn't want him she wants someone a little less perfect. But I still enjoyed it none the less. I found it to be a very easy read there wasn't really a deep hard to grasp plot. I really enjoyed the whole playing God spectrum, and I like how it was sorta based around Adam and Eve. And how everything goes to hell because of one apple.
I give this book a 4.5 out of 5 mainly because I just enjoyed it.

Zombie Apocalypse Tag

I found this blog version and am really excited to do it.
Pick 5 books (preferably ones you’ve read or know the characters).
  1. Write the name of the books on pieces of paper.
  2. Put the pieces of paper in a hat or container.
  3. Pull one piece of paper out to choose your first book.
  4. Open to a random page and use the first name you see to answer question 1 (under “Your Zombie Team”).
  5. Use the same book for question 2, but turn to a different page.
  6. Pull one piece of paper out to choose your second book.
  7. You will use your second book to answer questions 3 and 4.
  8. Your third book will answer questions 5 and 6.
  9. Forth book with answer questions 7 and 8.
  10. The fifth book will answer questions 9 and 10.
The books I chose where Obsidian, Poison Princess, Cinder, I'll Be There and Throne Of Glass. These are the questions i'll be answering after I write these books on a piece of paper and draw out.
The first book is Cinder, the second Posion Princess third I'll be there 4thThrone of glass and fifth is Obsidian.
  1. Who is the first person to die? Cinder i'm actually quite mad about this she would have been so useful
  2. Who is the person you trip to get away from the zombies? Prince Kai, he wouldn't have helped out anyways.
  3. Who is the first person to turn into a zombie? Selena I don't have anything to say about that
  4. Who is the person that trips YOU to get away from the zombies?  Matthew, it seems very unlikely that would happen.
  5. Who is the idiot of the team? Emily, again she's quite smart so I don't think it would be possible
  6. Who is the “brains” of the team? Sam. I'm very glad about this actually because he knows how to survive which is great.
  7. Who is the team’s medic? Celaena it could be good but also could be bad.
  8. Who is the weapons expert? Chaol. Yes I think I could kick some zombie ass with him.
  9. Who is the brawler? Dee. So unlikely
  10. Who is the Team Captain? Daemon I'm cool with that.
I know this probably wasn't as cool as the video but I found to do.

Inhuman- Kat Falls

Inhuman by Kat Falls
Wow just wow talk about the apocalyptic, survival, self discovery, romance and suspense in this book. Wow I'm honestly like blown away this is such a unique twist on a survival book. I felt like it was so original and unique and that is what made it interesting the fact that I have never read anything similar to this ever. The description on the inside of the book jacket honestly does not do the book justice just saying!.
Essentially a biological disaster has cause the United States to split into two parts the east and the west. The east no one goes in and no one goes out it is called the feral zone. Lane the main character has lived in the west her whole live, she's grown up knowing on thing the feral zone is off limits if you cross in you could catch the disease that kills people but also mutates them. But when someone Lane loves goes into the feral zone, she is forced to go too.
I LOVED this book, Lane's dad travels for work and is gone for a week each month on business trips, but he always told her bedtime stories, that were prepping her for going into the feral zone. Like what a smart dad, I honestly wasn't excepting a romance but there is one, it's more of a comedy romance which I know is a weird thing to say especially when the book is very serious. But I felt like the stuff that came out a Rafe's mouth was hilarious, Evenson was more a sweet guy except he surprised me with his secrets. I honestly loved this book, it had so many compelling elements to it, it wasn't a typical book at all. I would highly recommend it, I give it 4.75 out of 5, mostly because the book doesn't state what happens to Rafe.
